North San Diego County is a vibrant region composed of interconnected communities, rich in socioeconomic, racial and ethnic diversity. As a result, the needs of our children, youth and families are equally diverse and increasingly complex.

Preparing our students for success in college, career, and life is critical to the overall quality of life of our residents and the long-term economic vitality of our community. Investments in the North San Diego County Promise support improving the social, emotional and academic success of every child, from cradle to college and career.

Working together with our K-12 school districts, our region’s higher education institutions and our other partners, we are committed to facilitating greater equity and improving outcomes, by increasing the number of:

Kindergartners who enter school ready to succeed.

Third grade students who are proficient in English Language Arts.

Ninth grade students achieving a "C or better" in A-G coursework.*

Students who met A-G requirements upon graduation from high school.

High school graduates who enter college within the first year following high school graduation.

Students who earn a post-secondary degree within six years of high school graduation.

*A-G requirements are the minimum series of courses which must be completed upon graduation for consideration of freshman admittance in UC/CSU institutions.

Now is the time to improve the success of North San Diego County’s children, youth and families. It will take all of us to achieve our vision of all children, youth and adults reaching their fullest potential in grade school, college, career and life.
